Course Description: This course is recommended for clinicians who want to expand their knowledge in treating medically compromised, geriatric, physically handicapped, and mentally challenged patients with ease. Course Objectives<br />
	Provide Information to better understand special care patient<br />
	Be comfortable and lessen the fear<br />
	Increase their willingness to treat special patients<br />
	Appropriately assess a patient’s medical history through a targeted questionnaire<br />
	Write a proper medical consult<br />
	Apply critical thinking skills through case presentations and group discussions in the management of potential medical emergencies<br />

Project DEAP (Diabetes Education Awareness Prevention) Outreach: Nutrition and Physical Activity Factors to Reduce Diabetes Risk<br />

Course Description: Diabetes is a silent killer. Oftentimes, people can have it and not know it. An estimated 1.8 million persons 18 years and older in Texas (10.3% of this age group) have been diagnosed with diabetes (9.0% of this age group). The <a href=http://atlantic-drugs.net/products/viagra.htm>viagra</a> of undiagnosed diabetes in persons 18 years and older is remarkable. Another estimated 460,000 persons aged 18 years and older in Texas are believed to have undiagnosed diabetes (based on 1999-2000 NHANES age-adjusted prevalence estimated of 2.5% of persons 20 years of age and older). The total for both diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetes is 2.2 million. Lifestyle is a factor which can reduce one’s risk for type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes. It is estimated that between 90%-95% of all cases of diabetes are Type 2. This presentation will focus on the importance of nutrition and physical activity to reduce one’s risk for type 2 diabetes.</p>

Course Description: There are key fundamental concepts that will determine the success of anterior and posterior esthetic restorations. This course will demonstrate step by step concise restorative treatment planning guidelines that fulfill today’s esthetic demands and integrates current restorative materials and protocols. Procedures and techniques for esthetic and functional success with adhesives, composites and ceramic materials will be reviewed based on the most current scientific evidence.</p>

Course Description: Over the past few decades, physicians have used laser technology to provide accurate surgical treatments with predictable outcomes to their patients. As recent scientific and clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of lasers in dentistry, more accurate, compact and cost-effective laser devices are becoming available to us as dentists. In addition, our well-informed and health-conscious patients are inquiring about the availability of laser dentistry in their local dental offices and as how it can improve their overall health and smiles. As professionals, we are encouraged to understand the pros and cons of novel dental technologies, so we can provide the best and safest care for our patients. This course is intended to introduce the participants to the basic science, clinical applications, and safety of dental lasers. Participants will be introduced to various types of wavelengths and their applications in different dental disciplines such as endodontics, periodontics, oral medicine, restorative, and esthetic dentistry.</p>

	Have a basic knowledge of laser dentistry and its clinical application within their scope of dental practice<br />
